The problems are connected with the following concepts:

The Dirichlet principle (the pigeonhole principle).

The method of extremal element.

Invariant and Semiinvariant.

Tiling and covering. The colouring method.

Various consequences and applications of the triangle inequality.

Selected applications of the Group Theory.

Combinatorics :the "stars and bars" method, the generating functions method, combinatorial identities, applications to set theory problems. recurrence relations and the lucky bus ticket problem.

Helly theorem and its applications.

Qualitative theory of ODE's.

Bifurcations.

Analysis of population models.

Metody dydaktyczne: (tylko po angielsku)

A lecturer gives short introduction and a list of problems, that students try to solve by themselves or in groups with the support of the teacher. Every week some homework problems are proposed and then discussed in the class.
