Your assessment (including bothe classes and lectures) will be based exclusively on a writing assignment submitted by each student.

Each of you will be kindly requested to submit a 500 word essay based on your lectures and course materials. There are three topics to choose from:

1) The principles of ancient rhetoric are still applied by contemporary publicists, politicians and celebrities. Prove or discredit the claim, using real-life examples.

3) Speech acts (the use of performative language) in the new digital media – discuss at least 2 examples.

Your assignments should be submitted as email attachments in MS Word by June 8 at the latest. Your essays will be assessed on a scale of 2 to 5.
