1. Introduction to good laboratory practices and work safety regulations at the laboratory.

2. Introduction to scientific data basis including literature repositories

3. Conceptualization of the aim and hypothesis for the experimental work

4. Introduction to the laboratory techniques related to management of genetic material from environmental sampling and from AMF cultures in our collection.

5. Introduction to the bioinformatics tools necessary to manage the data from the experimental work.

6. Predefinition of working tasks and preparation of the experimentation schedule

Laboratory work under the instruction of the supervisor and his assistant.

Training sessions in the lab aimed to reach a sufficient autonomy to perform the tasks in the thesis project.

Periodically meetings aimed to evaluate the progress of the student in the knowledge of the background related to the topic of the thesis and to discuss further possible developments in the research work.

The final evaluation will be based on:

1) continuous assessment of laboratory skills and knowledge of the background related to the topic of the thesis. ( 30% of the final grade);

2) commitment to the work (20% of the final grade);

3) evaluation of preparing reports (20% of the final grade);

4) problem solving skills related to the laboratory routine (10% of the final grade);

5) presentation of the results in the final report (20% of the final grade).
